    Hello family and friends.

Gavin was discharged from the hospital on Friday after a short yet emotionally long stay at DuPont. We were admitted after Gavin developed a fever that later turned out to be an infection in his central line. We arrived at the hospital and Gavin was placed in a warmer and was started on IV antibioics to treat the infection. It was later found out that the infection was due to a fungus in the line and that the line needed to be removed. Gavin had minor surgery to remove the line to rid his body of the infection. The plan was to clear the infection and place another line in as well as a gastric tube...well Gavin had other plans. The morning he was scheduled to receive his new line he spiked a fever and the surgery was cancelled. They drew blood cultures and they later came back positive for another infection. He was again treated with more IV antibotics and eventually recieved his new line last Thursday.

As for the G-tube... I just wasn't ready to have that placed in yet. I know in my mind that it is needed, but it also brings a lot of things into reality for me, mostly that we still have a long road ahead of us. Once we came home Gavin has been making it very difficult for me as he refuses to keep his NG tube in. He is a tricky little guy and no matter how many tricks I try to keep it in I always find him tube-less. Needless to say the G-tube is in his near future. He needs the calories which he cannot get if the tube is feeding his crib or clothes.

This week will be a transition for us as we all again learn how to be a family at home together. Once again Madi will be busy reintroducing herself to Gavin and exploring his new boo boo!

We hope you find this website usefull in staying informed on how we are all doing!
